Sorry, didn't express myself well. They were on our health insurance, but it still ended up being more expensive than the psych who wasn't part of our health insurance network. The latter is Dr. Hemanth of Neuroscientific Insights in North Bethesda, by the way. She takes adults and adolescents and can take new patients.

My experience is with child psychiatrists, but getting a list of providers was impossible. My child's doctor gave us about 5 names, none of whom were taking new patients. Our education advocate gave us 5 different names, none of whom were taking new patients. Eventually one of those 10 doctors gave us a name, and that person wasn't taking new patients, but they had someone in their practice who was.

To clarify, I recognize most good psychiatrists do not accept insurance so I am willing to pay out of pocket for someone good.
