To remove Jennifer Hoover as the RMIB Coordinator and make her an MYP coordinator (10th and 11th) and bring in another person as a magnet coordinator (11th and 12th) is a recipe for disaster. He is breaking a magnet cohort especially since IB is so very hard and these kids need the cohort. But, whatever. My youngest will not go to RMIB, even though 2 of his siblings have gone through the program, because doing the MYP diploma in 10th grade is not another thing I want him to do for IB in HS.
I am surprised all the Bethesda parents are not protesting.
Just to clarify an IB diploma (11th and 12th) was good but an MYP diploma (6th-10th btw) is bad in addition. My understanding is the only difference to an IB magnet kid is the school wide 10th grade project which is quite minimal compared to the IB magnet work load. It is pass fail. Otherwise it just involves taking a language and a few other minor requirements the IB kids are already doing. Also, how would changing the coordinator break the cohort?

Which is the right path to take. As more and more colleges look less at AP's (as they lose money off of them) and look at the overall person for admittance, magnets and IB's are starting to take a turn.
