Sounds like your DH needs to quit or get a more flexible job to support your greater earning potential.

Yeah, the only way to make this work is to hire a full time nanny. Would your raise cover the additional expense and still make the new job financially attractive?

I have a friend who travels a decent amount and keeps really long hours. Her husband is gone 4-5 days per week. Every week. They hired a nanny at birth who is still around a decade plus later. She is older, has a lot of flexibility, does not live with the family but can stay as needed. She is very well paid, gets excellent health insurance, transportation, etc. And now that the kids are in school FT she has a considerable amount of free time.

If you can swing that financially, and you are comfortable with that lifestyle, it's doable. Not my cup of tea but my friend and her family are happy and the whole setup works for them. Be prepared to shell out six figures when all is said and done.

I hate to write this but sounds as if you should pass on the promotion because of the req'd travel.

Otherwise, your absence will distance you from both your toddler and your husband.

Sounds like your DH is unavailable to be there for your child and someone needs to be.

Or hire 2 nannies and run the risk of losing your family.

My company wants to promote me... yay. The good news is that my salary will double (and we NEED the cash). The BUT is that I go from 25% travel to 75%... i actually really like some business travel.

I have a toddler...who is going through the mommy clingy phase. I do all daycare pu/drop off, deal with house, make dinner etc,DH has a job with zero flexibility in an industry where one wrong move could kill his career. He can not flex enough to cover my 25% travel let alone even consider 75...

Our family is unreliable.
