Nope, because DD was still dressed appropriately for her age and the occasion. I would LOVE to see her in dresses, but she's very much a tomboy. She asked me back in October if she could wear pants, and I said yes then, as long as they were not jeans, and not ripped. A 14 yr old should not look like a hooker, which is what it sounds like OP's daughter will present as. It doesn't matter if lots of other girls will look like hookers.

How do you get here? My 8th grade DD would never ever ask for stuff like this - wouldn't even consider it. Maybe she just knows it would be a waste of time to ask? My DD has her set of issues but fortunately they are issues I can relate to.

To answer your question: totally inappropriate outfit for 8th grade graduation IMO

don't ruin the day. at my son's middle school graduation, some girls looked like that and it was fine.

I think you have to go with this at this point. my daughter wore 2 inch heels to her 8th grade graduation and while her dress was normal, there were some short ones there. don't worry about it, and there is nothing to do anyway

THey are for MY 14 yr old. I would not buy them for her or let her buy them for herself.

If she can walk OK and doesn't complain about discomfort, she's fine. I wouldn't wear them every day, but since you bought them for this occasion, she is right to expect to wear them.

Bow ties are very fashionable now according to my daughter.

According to my 8th grade daughter, the general style for 8th grade girls at the promotion ceremony is "25-year-old headed to a club". Her promotion ceremony is tomorrow morning, so we'll see.

Overall, though -- if she wants to wear the dress and shoes, what's the harm? If you're lucky, she'll wear the shoes, realize how uncomfortable 3" heels are, and choose lower heels next time. I would save the big fights for things that really matter, which this doesn't.

Just went to a middle school ceremony. I didn't see a single girl in 3 inch heels. I saw a lot of 1-1.5 inch. Saw a few tight dresses but it wasn't the norm by any means. Also just went to Hs gemraduation and saw very few heels above 2 inches. I wouldn't let my daughter wear what you bought. But I also wouldn't have kept the dress or bought the shoes.

I ordered my 14 yo DD a bodycon dress for her graduation. She loves it, but I once I saw it in person, I thought it is a little to grown for her.

But then we went shoe shopping, and she only wanted to try on high, high heels. I kept saying no, until I finally gave in and bought her 3 inch heels.

I think the combo of the dress and the heels makes her look like a 25 yo headed to a club. Graduation is tonight. Should I stick to my guns, and make her wear lower heels, or let her wear what she wants. She tells me it's her graduation, and I should have no say about what she wears.

I know it's a small problem, but we are having a major fight about it.
