DD did this, and a couple of her friends did as well. We were a bit worried as parents, but the kids all seemed to do fine this year. We still want to make sure there are no holes in her learning, so will likely hire a tutor to ensure she is prepared for algebra in the fall.

The numbers will continue to increase as the numbers in advanced 4th and 5th grade math increase. How old is your daughter? She should have a large cohort!

1/3 is high for some middle schools. Ours is more like 1/5.

I would guess it is 1/3 of the sixth grade at Pyle, based on the number of kids who were in compacted math in my kids' feeder elementary school.

My son is a sixth grader in IM. He says there are 5 sixth graders out of 31 students overall in his class.

I agree it probably varies, but about 1/3 sounds right. DD is a 6th grader in IM (pre-algebra). She says about half her math class is 6th graders, but I am sure that is more due to other classes those kids are taking together. Many of those same kids are in her English and French classes. So I am sure there are other sections of IM with a lot fewer sixth graders.

Fairly common..don't have a percentage but it is the top track aside from a small number of exceptions that take algebra in 6th (the unofficial track). Maybe 1/3

I am curious as to the percentage of six graders that are in pre-algebra and will take algebra in seventh grade. My daughter will be coming from a private school and I expect this will be the track she is on. Does anyone know roughly what proportion are on the track to finish geometry in eighth grade?
