In this situation, I would buy a bassinet, a couple packages of onesies in NB and 4-5 zippered sleepers in 0-3 months, plus diapers and some swaddle blankets. NOTHING ELSE.

I have a 2-month old. We have the Arm's Reach co-sleeper (borrowed from a friend) and a swing. Between that and the car seat, it's definitely enough baby gear.

Thanks everyone. Pack n play with bassinet feature seems like a good idea since we can use it longer. Also like the arms reach cosleeper idea. Thank you!!

I did basically the same thing and asked the movers to make an IKEA stop on the way to our new house. Got the crib at that point, as well as a bunch of other stuff. DS was 4 months.

I would research all the stuff you want and gave it ready to order, but not buy anything until you're at the new house.

The baby will be in the bassinet for the first couple months anyways.

Definitely wait. If for some reason it's not working, you can always run and get a cheap one at that time, but that's unlikely.

I would wait and buy everything/design the nursery when you move.

Wait. We had an arms reach cosleeper for night and a rock n play for naps in the living room. Plenty of people manage with a pack n play with the bassinet attachment for the first few months or longer. I'm not a fan of a separate bassinet, since they have such a short lifespan.

We used an Arms Reach co-sleeper. It's like a Pack & Play that 1) attaches to your bed, and 2) has an adjustable height for the mattress so it can be at the same level as your bed. Great for newborns. Our youngest slept in our room for a year and once he could roll over, we moved the mattress to the lower position.

This! We ended up using a pack n play for my daughter until she was over a year. Our second (4 mo) is still in it as well.

Thanks. We probably won't be buying any bulky swings and such either. I don't remember much with my 5 year old but I doubt she was using all of that equipment before 2 months.

Wait. No question.

Absolutely wait. We didn't use the nursery for DS until he was at least 4 months old.

Expecting baby #2 in Oct. #1 is 5 years old. We currently live in a 2 bedroom townhome with a loft - already at space capacity. We're renting and will definitely be moving in Dec. - most likely purchasing a larger home. Should we just wait to purchase a crib and other nursery furniture until after the move? Baby technically won't have a room and will only be 2 months old when we move. Assuming a bassinet will suffice, what are your recs for brands? TIA!
