LCPS parent here. MS just had their awards. About 25 students had all A's out of ~400 in his class, so less than 7%.

I don't think it has anything to do with grade inflation if you child never did much work in ES, and if he continued that work habit into MS the grades will reflect it regardless of private or public school attendance. In MS usually there is a lot more homework and a lot more school work.

He does a lot more work in private school because it is a rigorous education unlike public school which is a joke. No wonder so many public schools grads have to take remedial classes in college.

I think it is a big deal. DC is building a strong foundation for HS and will be easier to continue on this path. If you check your school's honor roll lists, you can see how many kids share the same accomplishments as your DC. It is probably not that many, perhaps 5-10% of the student body?

I would recognize and honor the work and persistence that went into getting those grades.

My anecdotal experience: One DC had all A's in MS and continues with all A's in HS. We will see what happens next year in college. The other DC had a mix of As and Bs and did the same in HS and in college is getting more As than Bs.

Somewhere between little deal and big deal. It shows consistency. My DC is in a LCPS middle school. Out of about 400-425 in her class, maybe 25-30 end up with straight A's through middle school.

Not at all unusual really, but still a great job and something to make at least a little deal over in order to encourage it to continue. It's important in all courses - some may count for high school credit, and the ones that don't likely at least have the grades considered for high school placement purposes. By getting straight A's the student is doing a lot to set themselves up in the best position possible going forward.

It's a big deal for my son, who has special needs and straight As. We'll see if he can keep that up in high school.

Except that some of those middle school classes are likely to count for high school credit and, therefore, "count." In APS most middle schoolers will take at least 2 HS-level classes, and some take as many as 6.
