The outdoor learning and focus is great. The kids tend to the garden, there is colonial day outside the log cabin, turtle mascots in the pond, etc.

We have not had any problems with bullying, but maybe someone else can chime in. In K, there was no homework (only reading), in 1st they have 10? words every week that they learn plus reading.
homework ramps up in 3rd grade with multiplication and other stuff.

Tuckahoe does have an exemplary project, the Discovery Schoolyard. Outdoor learning spaces infused into instruction, outstanding outdoor learning coordinator has been there a few years

It doesn't look like Tuckahoe has an exemplary project - but it also looks like not all the schools do. Does it have an emphasis though? Also, is homework somewhat the same across all the APS? I read somewhere Discovery and maybe another school don't do homework till 4th grade. Any bullying issues?

We've been very happy there. We've been there for a long time and have seen a lot of changes, but it's always been great.

right now 4 K and 5 first, could change based on numbers.

Pretty good about outdoor learning. The building has a center that is open -- that is where a little pond/waterfall is and where the mascot (Tessie the turtle) lives. We have been happy there. It is so much less crowded than it was.

FWIW, class sizes are capped by APS. If a particular grade gets to big, the school adds a new teacher. K-1 are capped at, I think, 22 or 23. 2-3 at around 25. 4-5 larger than that as the max. This is across APS at the elementary level, not sure about middle and HS how it works.

Could any present Tuckahoe parents please weigh in on your happiness with the school/teachers/class sizes please. Appreciate your time and feedback!
