Why should any MCPS school have an 8th grade promotion ceremony? This is a waste of time and money for students, parents and teachers. About time we stop having these "rewards" for students for attending school.

I had an 8th grade graduation. Cap and gown too. Very common in Northeast. I was surprised they didn't here.

It's kind of a combo. They visit Whitman and have a ceremony-ish at Whitman too.

If your kid doesn't know if there is a ceremony this late in the year then he needs another year of middle school.

Pyle has a sort of goodbye ceremony for 8th graders at the high school. Too many kids for on site at Pyle. Parents are not invited and it's a dumb event, according to kids,

We received news of the 8th grade graduation plans this week, for a different MCPS middle school, so you might be receiving an announcement very soon. You can call or email next week if you still haven't received anything by then. Also check your spam.

All middle schools I know have a "promotion" ceremony for 8th graders. It would be weird if your MS doesn't have one. You can call the school and ask. By this time parents should already know about it.

We transferred here last year and have an 8th grader. I assumed there would be an 8th grade graduation, but haven't heard anything about one. Does Pyle not do a graduation?
