I don't think you're ready for a high level position if you don't understand the need to wear some type of jacket to an interview.

I think you can do dress+jacket but the dress must be suiting material. No scuba, no ponte, etc. In other words, not this dress.

I don't see any issue wearing a sheath dress with a blazer. But why don't you ask your friends? I have suits in size 6 - 12 due to fluctuating sizes before/after kids and would gladly lend to a friend.

I wore a dress + jacket to an interview and got the job. Although, I don't think that particular interviewer would have really noticed a fashion faux paus. It really looked better on me but you do need a jacket.

Are you done losing weight? If so, then spring for a new suit. If not, a very basic sheath dress in suiting material (I do Brooks Brothers, JCrew, or Banana Republic) with a coordinating basic, suiting blazer is fine. The blazer is a must though. Wear it with pearls or a conservative, thin necklace and max 3" heels.

If the dress had sleeves it would have been fine.

Sleeveless for the interview is a big no, you definitely need a jacket. Formal pants and blazer will be a better option.

This is overkill. You do need a blazer over a sheath dress though. That will probably end up costing you the same as suit, so might as well just get a suit in your new size. Or maybe you have some old suits that you can get tailored?

I like the dress but agree you need a blazer. I think a sheath dress and blazer are a great combo, but only if they are a pair and go together exactly.

You really need a suit, at minimum a blazer with the sheath dress.

At the advice of some here, I went to Ann Taylor Factory and got two suits - one on clearance and under $100 for both pieces and one at 25% off the factory price for under $200.

Yes, you at a minimum need a jacket. You cannot wear a sleeveless sheath (or really any scuba fabric suit) to a government of any level interview.

If you are interviewing for jobs, why not just buy a suit to go with your new body shape/size.
