That's great. If we lived in D.C. I would want to go out more. We live in a boring college town now. There's no where I really want to go. I see my friends at the mosque every Friday afternoon and we have a dinner party every Monday evening. There are 5 or so families and we take turns hosting.

It sounds like you're only socializing with Muslim people, is that right? Why would you be so insular? I mean, I'm jewish and certainly don't only hang out with jewish people.

It's easier for me to make friends with immigrants. Lots of parents on here struggle to make friends. Surely you can understand.

No. I don't understand. There are Muslims here who are NOT immigrants, and there are immigrants here who are NOT Muslim. Do I have to put effort into making and maintaining friendships? Sure, but so does everybody. Since you're somewhat new to the country, here is something to know: segregation is bad, mmm'kay?

+1. Not nearly enough. It's about every 1-2 months for us. I want to up the frequency.

Every two months on average

We have a 10 yo and a 9 yo. when they were babies we had nannies and would go out for movies, dinner and birthdays.

Since they were 3&4 years old and they had a bad babysitter experience and asked us never to get one again, we have not gone out in the evening once.

I don't care as I don't miss it and we're both too tired anyway. If my DH has a rare day off, we can spend time together that way.

OP here - we don't go for drinks or to bars either because my husband has a health condition that makes drinking a bad idea. I just like going to museums, a movie, dinner etc.

Never. One of us is always with our 16 month old unless he's in daycare. We do a lot of family outings. It works for us. We don't drink or go to bars as we're practicing Muslims. Occasionally I go out to dinner with my friends in the evenings. There's a lot of dinner parties our friends arrange.

3 kids and we almost never get out alone. Maybe twice a year.
