my daughter is 10, and I found that a women's suit (size 6, i think. Or 4.) fit her better than girls' size 16. She is tall for her age, and slender, and girls suits just looked wide in the belly (she wanted a one-piece. So if the fit is weird in the girls sizes, consider trying a women's size.

Amen to that! Target has the biggest dressing rooms (thank God!).

I also have to agree with Target, it's our go to.
They have a varying size range from slim/petite to plus size in teen swim, they also have a very big selection of styles and their suits aren't going to break the bank, so you can get 5 or 6 for less than $100 and they'll last a few seasons. They may be affordable, but they aren't cheaply made.

Online. Speedo, tyr, arena, uglies, etc.

Definitely Athleta. They have xxs in the women's section, and their girls line has relatively mature pieces

My 12-year old DD likes the Breaking Waves line of swimsuits at Macy's.

Ssorry, I forgot to mention that my daughter is also 12 & LOVES the ones with the flounce on top! It's a bikini, but gives a little more coverage & doesn't show cleavage (she's already developing).

Btw, don't mind the really young looking model half way down the page, these really are perfect for 10/12 year olds & they look even cuter on!

Athleta and Title 9 if she's ready for womens suits. REI is a great idea if she's looking for laps.

When my DD was 12 she found stuff at REI and Sports Basement. She wanted a one-piece Speedo.

Lands End was my first guess, but apparently they are all "Mom Suits." Any suggestions?
