My father is a horrible human being. My husband has nothing in common with him. They are not opposites. They are not the same. They are just nothing at all like each other and I like it that way.

Very happily married to a guy who is similar in many important ways to my father, who is/was a good dad.

Yep I married a man just like my dad too. It's a good thing! DH is always trying to compare me to my MIL too, which I don't like but I do see the similarities. lol

It's totally normal to be married to 'familial traits'. It's such a strong urge that if daddy is abusive often DD marries an abusivd man. It's why you aren't supposed to marry/have kids with an abusive douche - because by doing that you are effectively ruining your DD's life as well.

Not everyone's childhood was as screwed up as yours probably was, so don't assume everyone else has your daddy issues, too.

Are you on birth control? That can make you attracted to familial traits.

Man married the opposite of his mother. Woman married the opposite of her father. Both marriages lasted for a long time but each ended in divorce. Some of those opposite traits turned out to be important and helped erode their marriages. Man and woman remarried. He was a lot like her father but not a carbon copy. She was very much like his mother but again not identical. Interesting enough the father and mother really liked the new spouse and related much better in a friendship.

Second marriage is doing very well almost 2 decades later.

"I married a girl just like the girl that married dear old dad!" My parents were married over 60 years and we are at 35. My DW is very much like my mom who I adored.

You have a great relationship with your dad and must admire him a whole lot. If your fiancé is like him that's a very good thing.

In a good way. I have a great relationship with my dad. My fiancé reminds me so much of him it's crazy. They even kind of look similar. Same behavior and mannerisms. Do I have daddy issues? Is this normal? Have other people experienced this? I am viewing it as a positive thing. I hope it means our marriage will last!
