Now to be clear, I'm no fan of Spencer. He's a pro-choice Atheist and a low-brow racist. That being said, I don't understand why his gym membership was revoked. What did he do to get it revoked? I know you guys probably think he's a piece of trash, but why should one's political/social views get one's membership at a gym revoked? He even tried to avoid the situation by telling this Georgetown professor that he was not Richard Spencer. If anything, I think it's the professor who should have her membership revoked. Just ridiculous.

Serious ??? "Pro choice" and "low brow racist"??? That's it? Try white supremacist!!!

Or this

Mr Spencer, who has called for “peaceful ethnic cleansing”, says he dreams of a "new society, an ethno-state that would be a gathering point for all Europeans".

The gym certainly has the right to do it. I just don't understand why they did it. Before long, Right-wingers will have to establish private gyms exclusively for Right-wingers.

OP, right-wingers are welcome at any gym. Richard Spencer is not "a right-winger".

I think the gym could have taken a courageous stand and kept him on. However, their business model is increasing the number of satisfied gym-goers, not reducing it. So they kicked out the problematic gym-goer.

Right. I agree it's the right move from a business prospective. Where do you draw the line though? Let's say Pat Buchanan worked out at a gym, and was confronted by someone. Do you think he should be booted out? How do you decide who's welcome and who's not?

I would support his right to be there. Then again I am not the type to believe that baking a cake violates my religious beliefs.

You really don't understand why? Because they don't want to be associated with Nazis. If the KKK grand master or whatever he's called worked out there, they'd probably want to ban him too. Not sure why you think that all "right wingers" would end up being banned -- I lean conservative but am neither a Nazi nor a racist.

Well if our hypothetical KKK grandmaster isn't hurting anyone or insulting people, who cares? The gym isn't endorsing his views by allowing him to work out there.

Let's just go ahead and let the flyover states secede already.

A business decision to mitigate risk. Happens.

"Fair said that the majority of employees of the Old Town Sport & Health gym were "women and/or old people of color" who Spencer has "has repeatedly asserted...to be inferior to his kind who are entitled to rule over us because we are not Christian, white or have a vagina."

She said the general manager of the gym had asserted Spencer's right to join the gym two months ago and had accused her of creating a "hostile environment" by confronting Spencer.

Fair told BuzzFeed News that she told the general manager that Spencer was not a "private bigot; rather a public bigot with a long history of degrading hate speech against those who are not white, Christian males."

She said that she told the general manager the employees of the gym — most of whom were not white, Christian males — could file a class action suit against the gym "for being subjected to this man due to his public hate mongering."

"Ultimately, I think the corporate office made a business decision to protect the club from such lawsuits," Fair said."

Good riddance! He can go give the Nazi salute and work out in Steve Bannon's gym.

Sad!

Either way. Likely a caveat in the gym contract that they can chose whom to have as members
