After U13 CCL is about the equivalent of NPL. Once talent is siphoned off to ECNL or GDA the talent evens out.

That's true in theory, but you have to be seen to be recruited. Coaches have limited time, and will spend it at the best competitions.

If the top girls leave for DA how does that imply the team they left is the "top team"?

There's a big difference in intensity between the ECNL and CCL team at our club.

DA for the girls doesn't start until U14. There are four Girls DA clubs in the area: FC Virginia, Washington Spirit MD, Washington Spirit VA, Virginia Development Academy. And ECNL, next year, will have teams starting at U13. Locally, it looks like the ECNL clubs will be Mclean, BRYC, Bethesda, and Maryland United.

CCL still has some excellent clubs (like Loudoun, even if they're losing some talent to DAs).

You have to do what works for your kid and your family. College coaches recruit kids - not teams and not clubs.

The big thing is for your kid to continue to improve. 90% of that will be done on their own. Being on a top team makes things easier to get seen but not at all necessary so if costs are too much it is the end of the world

Right, so Girls DA definitely for rising U14, toss-up for rising U15, and ECNL for U16 and above *if* they're already in the recruiting mix with ECNL. If those older girls aren't already on an ECNL team and in the recruiting mix, Girls DA might actually work better for them. Assuming college soccer is the goal.

For OP, ECNL and DA are for girls who are thinking college D1 soccer. If your daughter isn't that serious about it, CCL has some excellent regional teams (Arlington for example) as does VPL. So your best bet for a CCL team is to look at the one closest to home.
