We're not religious (in fact, I'm Hindu, DH is Christian, but neither of us practice our religions), and our DD goes to a Catholic preschool. They say grace before eating and have chapel one day a week where they learn some stories and songs but to my 4 year old it's just stories and songs. She does yell at me if I go "Jesus!" about something bad, though, which is cute! It's totally fine and I don't think very many of the families at our preschool are religious either, from what I can tell.

We're atheists and both kids went to religious pre-school where they had chapel every week. Great school. Kids loved it. We don't go to church and we don't pray at home. When they asked about things we'd discuss them with "some people believe that..." and sometimes provide examples from other religions or mythology where people believed something different.

Both kids are in public school now. We still don't go to church and we still don't pray at home, and there are far fewer discussions about religious beliefs.

We are not religious and our two children go to a religious daycare. They say their grace before eating, and that is about it. Ask the school what they do specifically as it relates to religion.

We were recently offered a spot at a much-coveted local preschool and are considering moving our DC there but... it's religious and we are not. Have any other parents dealt with this and how has it been? I think it's actually less of an issue for our DC, who will probably not retain a ton of information or doctrine, but might be more uncomfortable for us as we see DC learning prayers, asking us about Jesus, etc. I want to do what's best for my kid, but I also want to feel comfortable in the community and surrounded by like-minded parents and families. It's a really tough decision!!
