Agree! I might give a bunch to our nanny. We don't know who half the kids are in their play dates!

Taking a card from someone and deciding about them later is easier than getting out your phone and entering contact info and making that decision on the spot.

They are all the rage in my parents' very white, very Republican retirement community.

Maybe just write the children's names on the back right after you leave the party so you don't forget?

I have some made up that are just my name, phone number, and email address. I use them because I have a last name that gets easily misspelled (there is a similar, much more common last name that people confuse it with) and my email address includes my last name so if they get my last name wrong, they'll get my email wrong. There have been plenty times people only use the card to type my contact info into their phones then hand the card back to me when they're done. The cards weren't expensive at all and were worth the investment, in my experience.

not pp you are quoting but i have my name, number, email, and "washington dc". thick light grey cards with deep navy typeset.

I don't like giving out my business cards in a social setting or a setting where it isn't necessary for the person/event to know my professional image. I like using my calling cards and i've noticed people appreciate getting them.

I came across one for the first time not too long ago. I like the idea and considered some for myself, but haven't really looked into it. I think it's a personal style thing. The person who actually introduced it to me was very much an "it's all in the detail" kind of person who appreciated small nods to self-branding.

I've met a few women who do - I found it hilarious at first but I think it's kind of cool and useful now to be fair.

Fumbling with a phone to exchange numbers is not fast or cool.

Swapping cards is very fast and smooth in the personal interaction process.

Do you use them? Know of anyone who does?

P.S. I'm speaking in reference to the cards that are similar to business cards minus any reference to job title, employer, etc. ... often used in networking and more casual settings.
