It's really hard to offer suggestions because you haven't given us much to go on. Is this for a kitchen? (I assume yes because you mentioned granite.) What type/color of granite? What color are your cabinets? Is it a big space, small space? Do you have a lot of light or is it fairly dark?

There's a lot of variables here and I have no idea which way you should go, but I'll just throw out another thought -- you seem to be leaning toward pale neutrals but you might not have enough light for a pale neutral to really sing. The scandinavian/gray/beige moment that we're hving now in interior design seems to work best when you have abundant light.

So maybe you need to move toward a more assertive color. If you like green, for ex., pick a green. Not a beige with green undertones. If you like blue, pick a blue, not a gray-blue.

Just a thought. Another thing I do for myself is select maybe two or three samples and tell myself that these are my only choices. Usually something will work. If I go down the rabbit hole of picking from the 500 shades of beige or greige out there, I'd go crazy.

I wonder if it's because my exposure is northwest. When the artificial lights are on it looks fine, but without any lighting it is turning lavender, at least in my room.

Thanks everyone, OP here. I love the Pale Oak color but this morning I saw lavender tones which doesn't look good with our oak floors. I think I will try Classic Gray next.

I know it is quite a bit lighter than the others. Any other suggestions welcome!

Edgecomb in our office and I love it.

It's all very specific to your lighting, your windows, your exposure, the other colors in your room, OP. We have Edgecomb Grey in our dining room and it tends to have greenish beige undertones. But we have a moss green rug under the dining table and a lot of green trees outside. We painted the adjoining open concept family room Benjamin Moore's Balboa Mist and it is a more neutral light grey that has a very slight blue undertone. I wanted to offset the green in the dining room. You might want to try this color. Classic Grey might also work but it is a lot lighter than Edgecomb Grey and Balboa Mist.

I painted my 2 story entry Pale Oak. Did not see any purple undertones. I really love the color. I had Shaker Beige previously and Pale Oak seems MUCH brighter.

You have to make the call...not stangers here.

Seriously, its your room, you will look at it every day. Make the call.

I got a sample pot of Classic Gray, looked at it morning, night, natural light, artificial light...and it never looked gray to me. It always looked like a very pale beige. Which may be what you want, since Edgecomb Gray is in that greige family. But since I was looking for gray, it didn't work for me. Nice color, though.

We have Edgecombe Gray in our basement (one small window) and I have not noticed any purple tones at all.

Coventry Gray?? We needed a true gray- but may be a little dark for what you need.

We have Edgecombe Gray in our living room and have been very happy with it. I have never noticed any purple notes. I think it is the perfect warm gray.

Thanks for the feedback! The paint store rep. also recommended Wind's Breath and Classic Gray so I am tempted to give them a try.

Any experiences with either of those colors?

I am debating between these two right now.

I originally was going to go with Edgecombe Gray but it turns a purpley brown in certain lights. Yesterday the sample board I have was showing a cold blue during the day with no lights on.

Pale Oak is lighter and seems very pretty and fresh. It does seem to go a little lavender at times. If you have used it, have you noticed any undertones?

My room has a northern exposure and it's been very hard to find a color that will work!

Unfortunately, our granite is gray and and any cream based color clashes with it.

Thanks in advance.
