I love the Primary fabric, it stays smooth & soft, no pilling.

I wash on normal and dry on med-high--no special care needed.

Carters and the other lines that do mostly polyester blends pill the worst. Try to look for 100% cotton. I've found Gap and Old Navy to hold up pretty well, and Cat and Jack has always been good too, though some of the other Target brands look worn quickly. I definitely don't bother air drying all of my one year old's clothes, but absolutely separate the velcro stuff.

I like zara baby/kids for some quality linen clothes for summer. They range from $5-25 per item which isn't bad if you're not buying a lot

Agree with previous posters who siad they don't dry the clothes in a dryer. I hang all of ours

Wash inside out and separate Velcro.

Also check your washing machine, maybe there are snags in there.

I have lots of Gymboree and baby gap and some carter and they are al on the 3rd newborn (up to 6 months actually) baby being passed around friends and they are totally fine. We wash in small loads using cold water (oxy clean is needed) and light dry. Some Getbet and cheap stuff frayed but most didn't. Are you washing everything with Velcro (bibs) separate?? You have to other wise the hooks in the Velcro tear the fabrics.

NP and I do not buy my infant DD expensive clothing, we dress her almost exclusively in carters, baby gap, or cat & jack. We hang everything up to dry instead of putting it in the dryer and, so far, everything has held up well.

You just can't put the clothes in the dryer. I hang up DD's clothes to dry and they never pill or fade. Something about the cheap fabrics they're using makes them not wash very nicely.

wonder why all your clothes pill/fray immediately. how are you washing them?

do they exist? so sick of all of DD's clothes pilling/fraying immediately. she wears cat & jack, gymboree, carter's, things on that level. maybe we just need to spend more? is there a middle ground between these brands and something more expensive?
