My son and his friends went in a group to the UVA residential camp for a few summers starting when they were 11. They had an absolute blast. Maryland puts on very good half day and residential camps as well. Finally, the Bethesda residential camp in Frostburg/Deep Creek is excellent for soccer-obsessed boys, and I assume it's open to non-Bethesda players. Have heard very good things about the Navy camp as well from friends' sons.

For a kid who is a serious player in the 13-15 age group, I would also look into potentially doing a camp at a college that a kid may hope to play at. I would also check with the kid's club coach to see if they have recommendations that may be helpful for recruiting or soccer development purposes.

The first question is if your kid is interested in an all-day camp, or if that's too much soccer, just a half-day camp. For all-day camps, the Coerver camps are very good. Total Futbol does a good camp but I'd probably wouldn't only do for a 13 yo or younger; just not enough older players for a 14/15 yo. Pretty much all of the local colleges have camps - Georgetown, American, GMU, UMd and Navy, and as others have mentioned, UVA has a camp in Alexandria.

Many of the local clubs have camps too - Arlington, McLean, Loudoun and FCV are ones I know off the top of my head that would work for older players

Some local area colleges have week long camps. For that age, the camps are over night and really ID camps.

My daughter and many team mates have gone to Navy Soccer Camps and had great experiences. I have heard positive things several years in a row. She went when she was U13.

Dont meant o hijack this thread but on the topic of summer camps has anyone sent their kid to a residential (overnight camp) and at what age is normal to send one. I have a 10yr old interested in going. I think UK Elite is the one I heard about.

Have you looked at the UVA camps? Some are at Episcopal HS.

There are tons of soccer camps out there...I'm looking for recommendations on camps for competitive players in the 13 - 15 year old age range.
