this actually isn't true. But I'm not sure why you are trying to make it a competition.

No, they're not.

White girls are sometimes "associate" members (mostly as traffic victims/sexual outlets for male members) but white males are NOT permitted in any Latin gang, period.

Latin gangs are tied to racial identity and racial "purity" (as pure as a Mestizo bloodline can be, anyway, given its s mix of at least a dozen distinct pre-Columbian cultures) and there is no tolerance for Anglo men whatsoever. Most Cubans, "European" Mexicans, Columbians, Argentinians, Chileans and other "white" Latinos aren't Mestizo enough for gang membership either.

might want to get out of the bubble you live in and see how things really are. there are plenty of gangs for white girls and boys and they are just as bad as the latino ones.

Seeing as how I arrest gang members, I think my little bubble keeps me plenty informed.

Dolt.

That's how it works. You don't ever remove the problem, you just displace it or cover it up. When cities boast about crime being way down, crime is way up in the inner-ring suburbs and the police department is likely doing funny business with the data.

Yes there is. One indicator is their gang grafitti - which is NOTHING like the innocent 1980s artistic graffiti.

Gangs "mark" their territory with grafitti; if a rival gang member is caught in their marked territory, they may chop off a hand with a machete, or simply kill the person.

They also quietly engage in non-visible criminal activity in Fairfax county like operating prostitution rings, drug smuggling, and human trafficking. Because their crimes are often confined to the illegal immigrant community, the victims usually do not report them to the police.

There were raids recently across the country targeting gangs. There were 52 people arrested in the DC, MD, VA region.

MS-13 used to have a presence in Wheaton. Not sure how much of a presence there still is.

As recently as 2010, the FBI estimated that upwards of 80% of all crime in the USA was in some way gang-related.

Came across this article:

http://wamu.org/story/17/04/10/rescued-gang-one-maryland-latinas-story/

Montgomery County has a gang problem and it is only getting worse.
I don't think having a former gang member as an "outreach" person is nearly enough, and it sure seems like a completely different approach is needed given recent gang activity and deaths. Have any other jurisdictions been successful in addressing the gang issue?
