Then he knows your expectations. I would ask him directly where he sees the relationship heading. If he can't provide a sufficient answer or take action, find someone else.

That's what I'd look at, mainly because living all over is a dream for me. If that isn't for you, and this is at odds with his job (and presumably him, since he is fine with this) then I'd break up. It's too hard to have a long distance thing in the same country, let alone internationally.

I also would love to travel and live abroad. I'm not 100% sure that I'm stuck, but at least for the next two years I am probably stuck. We are still investigating what my rights are to leave with lawyers (family stuff). I might be able to make summers work, but not sure on that either. I had a 5 year long distance relationship in college where the guy cheated on me, but I personally survived it. I don't have those worries about him, he's incredibly loyal and not a ladies man.

Would you go if you could? Are you absolutely certain you're stuck here?

That's what I'd look at, mainly because living all over is a dream for me. If that isn't for you, and this is at odds with his job (and presumably him, since he is fine with this) then I'd break up. It's too hard to have a long distance thing in the same country, let alone internationally.

I'm dating a wonderful man. I'm mid-30s have had several very long term relationships but none ever went to marriage for a variety of reasons. I finally met someone that I completely click with - there is no drama, very loving relationship, includes me 100% in his life, and just overall great person. Everyone I meet has a warm and great relationship with him. I could see being very happily married to him and vice versa. However, he has a job that sends him around the world to live in places and has no ability to change the assignments.

When we first starting dating we thought that he could be based here and take short assignments abroad. However, now that we are closer to the next assignment its becoming more clear to both of us that we may have little to no control over when and where we could be together for the next 10 years. I tried to see if I could leave at any point in the next 10 years and I'm probably 90% stuck here for many reasons including work and family.

Neither of us want to end the relationship, we're both still trying to see what we can do to make it work. Would you take a risk of trying to make it work (because we could get lucky) or let this person go?
