I think it's fine to denote something non-specific (noon-ish above is a good example).
I dislike when it's used as "shit." (E.g., "I hate that ish.")

I use "ish" all the time to describe a non-specified hour. Like "We will run errands and then return home around noon-ish."
Since I don't know exactly how long the errands will take, I don't want to say "noon" exactly--it might end up being as early as 11 or as late as 1 pm.
