I went to a college (Jesuit) without a Greek system. People self segregated into groups and did this too whether it was the baseball players, lax, etc. Young kids are going to drink into oblivion.

My friend's daughter refused to drink until she threw up during pledge week so she was kicked out.

Not at Penn but it's the whole Greek system that is disgusting.

I completely agree. I was hazed years ago while pledging, obviously not to death. But to this day I resent the fraternity and the so-called-brothers who participated. Enough of this nonsense. I let my children choose their college, but I told them I would not pay for any school that had a significant Greek system.

Don't kid yourself. This can and probably does happen ANYWHERE. This is the Greek life mentality, which is what should be questioned.

Jesus. Are college aged students just not emotionally and intellectually developed enough to handle being in a fraternity environment? Or are we absolutely failing at teaching and raising our kids?

The parents said that the kid just wanted to fit in. That is the riskiest prospect for anyone. This kid didn't deserve any of this, but that need to be 'like and liked' is dangerous.

One kid apparently tried to help but the others told him he was nuts. I'm sure they were all drunk to a point that fear overcame common sense so it's not 100 percent surprising that very young people could have this happen.
