I would avoid moving to that area. It may be true that Lyles Crouch and Maury are pretty good schools, but they feed to terrible Middle Schools and then to TC Williams. I would just move to MD and be done with it.

I think most of us are confused why you want to move to the low rated Alexandria school districts and commute to MD. MD has areas just as expensive as Old Town but great school districts.

You're moving to Old Town to get closer to Maryland? Will you be commuting via the Woodrow Wilson bridge? I'd factor in commute versus just comparing the two elementary schools.

We have read that Lyles Crouch can be quite rigid and that there is limited movement throughout the day. Have those with children there found this to be the case?

They're a similar size and have pretty similar demographics.
Lyles Crouch has higher test scores/higher great schools ranking.
Maury is mostly kids from Rosemont (and a bit of Old Town) which has a similar feel to Del Ray in terms of house/yard/etc. not as much retail of course.
LC is either the southern half of Old Town (lots of very expensive historic houses, lots of townhouses) or the development along Eisenhower (imo not a very interesting place to be but that's a matter of preference). That's a very abbreviated explanation, but the general gist.
So, in my mind, the trade off is that LC is a better school, but Rosemont is a more family friendly neighborhood. People who attend are generally happy with Maury.
I'd probably keep both in the mix and see what housing I find that appeals to me.

Looks like a request for "pros and cons" of each school? I think?

I don't understand the question.

What do you give up and what do you get? We need to move closer to MD for commutes and after crossing Del Ray off the list...
