Oh, my goodness people. That gala is a fundraiser for the Costume Institute at MOMA. They pick a theme and you're supposed to dress to the theme. Granted, I don't follow the Smiths so he may dress weird all the time, but in this case it would be completely appropriate.

Probably. Lots of highly creative/"weird" people also have some sort of mental illness or personality disorder. Lucky for him, he's rich and he can enjoy all the benefits of his unusual brain without worrying about ending up broke or homeless.
