Just because he didn't use his platform to speak about healthcare does not mean he didn't recognize it as a human right. There are a million different causes he could use his platform to promote but it's his choice. There is nothing wrong with a celebrity using their platform to promote issues that they have personal experience with. Doesn't mean they didn't care before.Anonymous wrote:Making charitable donations isn't the same as using your platform to champion a cause. Did he use his platform prior to the election to speak about access to healthcare? We're in a shitshow right now thanks to Trump.
All I'm saying is it's interesting that it often takes a personal issue to get people to make a stand. I wish it didn't. I wish everyone on the planet recognized that healthcare (like shelter, food and water) as a basic human right.
To be clear: I'm not really throwing rocks at kimmel. It's more an indictment on celebrities and society in general. Kinda like how conservatives magically come around on gay rights when their kid comes out of the closet.

Glad his baby is fine, and glad he's using his platform to raise awareness of the critical need for access to healthcare...but I wish everyone would simply support this commonsense approach to meeting basic human needs.

To be fair he said that he's been a supporter of Children's Hospital for a long time and never thought he would need to go there.
