We have a housekeeper 20hrs a week and i dont clean my house, do laundry, or grocery shop or meal prep, so you know my answer!

DH and I come home each afternoon and hang out and relax. Worth every penny.

LOL oh yes! When I made $75K a year but lived alone in a three bedroom, three bath place I had a biweekly cleaning service. You're either exhausted now or have a filthy house.

Once a week cleaning.

We have two kids, two full-time jobs, and no cleaner. I say, if you can afford one (which you can), HIRE ONE.

I wish we could but we make under $200k and can't swing it. We also have a mid-sized/small row house on the Hill and I do all the cleaning, DH does all the laundry. My life would be majorly improved by hiring a cleaner!

Are the kids home with a nanny during the day and/or after school? Or is everybody out of the house until evening?

If the kids are home, I would do at least weekly. You'd be surprised at how much sanity and energy and time you get back. It is worth every penny and more

If they're out of the house and you're relatively neat people as a family, that's probably the only way I'd consider every other week

When I was growing up, our cleaning lady IRONED all the sheets, too. Who does that anymore?

Mine do. They wipe down the refrigerator shelves, too. They also change the linens in all the bedrooms, put the old linens in the washer (and then dryer), and when I get home, they're all folded in in the linen closet. Wish I could have them weekly, but this way, I'm stuck doing the linens (my most dreaded chore) only twice a month.

We do biweekly. We still need to do laundry, dishes, and keep it picked up, but they clean bathrooms, change sheets, mop/sweep, etc.

Wr pay $139/cleaning for a 3 bed/3.5 bath rowhouse in NW

2 questions
1. How often would be worthwhile? I am thinking once a week is too much, we really need someone for deep cleanings like cleaning bathtub, etc
2. 3 bedroom 2.5 bath rowhouse in Capitol Hill, how much would cleaning lady/service cost for 1500 sq ft?

Thanks

Wow. Full-time job with three little kiddies. I'd say once every other week for the deep cleanings. i pay $100 for a 1900 SF townhouse, but in the suburbs.
