The whole family knows they are cheap. Everyone gives gifts back and forth. People notice when your paycheck is in the seven figures before any bonuses but you write the smallest checks at graduations. We are talking token gifts - 50 bucks from everyone, 25 from them, etc. It wouldn't even be a thing, if he wife didn't also post hateful, negative Liberal partisan bullshit constantly on FB and include crap about how much better you/your affiliation are/is. They are huge name droppers and love to give themselves credit but actions are never there. Donations? Haha. How about I was busy and stressed out as a new mom but had time to start a small donation/charity thing and they didn't donate a penny? Sometimes you just get a gut feeling.

Honest question? Do you guys actually go around asking people how much they give to charity. Do you brag to other people about how much you give to charity. Both are pretty goshe and crass. I give generously to charities, about 12%, but damn the only people who know that is my accountant, the charities, IRS, and my husband. The only reason the latter knows is because he has to sign the tax return. When you give to charity it is not to receive recognition from others.

Charity begins at home. And $260,000 isn't a ridiculously wealthy income for this area. OP is just trying to get in a nasty dig at liberals.

I would think it pretty cheap. Heck, I am a Trump voter but we give generously to appropriate charities like Doctors Without Borders, my fav.

Money is one way to give. You have no idea what they do with their time. I probably have a similar annual giving and income but spend about 200 hours a year at a crisis center on Saturday mornings and Wednesday evenings. I also head a brownie troop, do every meal train I ever see posted, and cut hair for free at least bi monthly. I figure time is money.

I think he's taking care of his family and their future, so they won't have to rely on the charity of others.

I would judge him for spending frivolously instead of saving and securing his future, but I'm not going to judge him on charitable contributions. I'd rather someone be generous in their daily life, like tipping service people well, than give money to established charities where the money ends up going who knows where, like their marketing efforts.

I think that they gave a lot more than most people.

I think nothing. I think taxes are often a more efficient way of allocating money/services to lower income people. If only we didn't have a dummy who wanted to blow it all on a wall and stupid crap.
