I enjoy seeing what other people are reading. But I get annoyed reading a list of book titles with zero description. Please include a few adjectives about your book. Or let us know why you loved or hated the book. That would be helpful for me anyway. I'm going to check out the pp's fb rec. Thanks

Just finished novel Lincoln in the Bardo - excellent.
Also really enjoyed non-fiction The Undoing Project. Michael Lewis is such an engaging writer.

I did not read the Harry Potter books but loved three books written by JK Rowling under the pen name Robert Galbraith. They are about a British detective who lost part of his leg in Aftghanistan. Great characters and storylines. They are more page turners than literature but a very good read.

I read a lot and I pass along most of my books to my 76 year-old mom. She is eating up the Chevy Stevens books! (and I like them, too!)

Best book I read last year: The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah

Best really cheap Kindle book: Take Me With You by Catherine Ryan Hyde

I read where'd you go Bernadette based on a thread here. it was fun.

I loved The Wanderers by Meg Howrey.

Just know that it's deep on character development and introspection, but lighter on plot.

The set up is interesting (three exceptional astronauts preparing for the first trip to Mars), but the book is much more about the internal lives of the astronauts and a few people around them than it is space exploration. Definitely not a go-go-go plot where tons of things happen, but I thought it was fantastic in a totally different way.

The Lonely Hearts Hotel is excellent. It's dark and twisted but also whimsical and hopeful. I absolutely loved it.

I am in the middle of reading Andi Dorfman's book about her time(s) on both The Bachelor + The Bachelorette.

She doesn't hold back & reveals juicy tidbits which make for an X-llent read!!

My favorite non-fiction book from last year was Evicted by Matthew Desmond. He is a sociologist who lived in Milwaukee and followed 2-3 families and 2-3 landlords in the rental marketplace. Total eye-opener and made a huge statement about how easy it is for a family to go from just making it to totally down and out.

I just finished a mystery / crime fiction novel called The Lock Artist by Steven Hamilton. It is a stand-alone for Hamilton and just a great book. The book has been around for a while (2011 Edgar Award) but it was the first time I've read it. A mute young man recounts his path to prison, including an how he became known as The Miracle Boy and the The Lock Artist.

There hasn't been a book recommendation thread in a while. I just finished "Mercury" by Margot Livesey and loved it. Anyone else? What's next for me?
