Sure..... not that easy with charters multiplying in the neighborhood.

Most of the kids in those charters aren't going to be IB for those schools.

You obviously don't know the Ward 5 neighborhoods. Many, many Michigan Park, Brookland, Edgewood kids are going into the charter system, and it is almost impossible for DCPS to compete - but they should still try as long as the exist.

This is why Bowser has this proposal for inbounds for charters. I see this dilemma here, though.

The walkability preference (which the Council doesn't seem to want to endorse) is really narrowly tailored to places where students are close to a charter campus and quite far from a DCPS. That just wouldn't apply in this second of Ward 5. There are DCPS schools close by. But the PP doesn't think they are 'good.'
