This is hilarious as I know too many less than stellar students in both Churchill and Wootton. Perhaps Whitman and BCC overall are good schools. Maybe stick with the magnet programs if your kid is smart enough to get into one!


np - that's a really dumb statement. how many "less than stellar" students do you know from those two?

How can you really know? My DC had a very good experience at our assigned HS (Whitman). I would certainly choose it again without hesitation, but it's not like we tested all the schools and selected one. We have experience with just one.

That's the whole point, a superior high school works much much better for the unmotivated student, the uninformed parent, the parent/child who does not know what it takes to succeed in school or college, who has no idea what colleges want. You have to first become an informed child in order to grow into an informed adult.


Yet, its the usual suspects that emerge high achievers from "superior schools". It is interesting to see "below average" students being produced at "W" schools when uninformed parents leave the education and career path of their students to the school.

An informed child is informed because the parents are informed and in the know.

Actually any HS will work for a motivated student and involved and INFORMED parents. If you know what is needed to succeed in school and college, and what the colleges want - any MCPS HS will work. If you can plan the HS years and know what to do when then you have an advantage where ever you are.

NP here - can you share what it is you know? Im interested in some neighborhoods that are zoned for that school so would be interested incthe info you have on it.
