Yeah the spinster 30 threads (can I wear tight jeans???) are ridiculous. But as the 33 yr old mom to a toddler with another on the way, shit gets adult and old real fast, so it can feel boring and pathetic only a few years after partying til 3am on H street...

I know plenty of women who had kids between 40-43 as well so you are wrong there. It's not for me but it can happen.

This whole forum has become overrun with misogynists who post fake threads to make themselves feel better about living in their moms' basements. I agree with you OP. I think these women are living quite well!

I think those posts are from single men who rarely date (hence being on DCUM) and a few unhappily married women. The guys just want women to settle.

Most of my friends are married with kids (We are 32-33).
The problem is what we are conditioned to believe. Society tells us we are not complete without being married or a mother. We have films like 'Bridget Jones diary' and 'The 40 year old virgin', newspaper articles screaming out scaremongering messages about how we need to become moms right NOW if we want to have kids. Some of us also have family and friends pressuring us, glossy magazines tell us what we are 'lacking' anf then when we do become moms, we get pressure if we either stay st home or choose to work. As a woman in this age group, we have a lor of pressure on us. Twenties are seen as a fun, carefree age, thirties is where the pressure gets laid on to 'have it all' and when we don't, we feel we are falling short.
I feel like I can't handle it myself most days.

I am 27 and ALL of the twentysomething girls I know are living in group houses, going to happy hour, tinder-ing casually and applying to grad schools etc. We know some girls who just got married but they still live like us.

I feel like DCUM is alternate land or something.

I turn 30 this year and have plenty of friends married with a mortgage, two kids. They met in college and married shortly after. But, they ALL live out in the burbs.

I am appalled by all the 30something threads bemoaning loss of looks and lack of dating options and preparing for the crypt when you turn 30!

I know SO MANY 30somethings in the DC area who are partying it up! Gorgeous barree toned bodies, prestigious DC type jobs, glamorous galas and parties. They get dates ALL THE TIME. They also marry similar over achiever glamorous DC types and have beautiful weddings at Meridian House that are showcased on Washingtonian.

What alternate reality are DCUM-ers living where you can't wear shorts after 30 and are a spinster?
