If LAMB and a common lottery school both enter your child into the DC-wide student database as a student, an error should surface. But you could be double enrolled for a time.

You also risk losing slots at both schools.

* 2nd language
* Montessori
* IB middle/high school
* tight community
* low FARMS
* high scores

The question is really, why wouldn't you love LAMB? It's easily one of the best public elementaries in the city.

If you accept a LAMB spot, do you automatically get pulled off of common lottery waitlists? Or can you enroll in a common lottery school AND also LAMB until the May 1 deadline?

Also, both campuses (campi?) are in places I like and can almost afford to buy a home.

I don't know about that. We're looking for a school that represents our values with environmental stewardship. So we're looking at Mundo Verde because of that. And, you know, Spanish.

This. Plus as was said recently in another thread, "Because, you know, Spanish."

We are inbounds for a great Capitol Hill school. So, it is not a 'push' for us but a 'pull'....

Nonetheless, we have been at LAMB for the last three years (and plan to continue) because:
-- Teachers are great;
-- Atmosphere is caring;
-- DC loves independent learning (Montessori);
-- DC is bilingual and we would not be able to get this in DCPS.

Above noted, there are lots of things that drive me crazy there. If you don't love bilingualism and Montessori, and just want a good school, it may not be worth putting up with that stuff.

This, plus it's also a well established charter which feels to many parents like less of a gamble.

It is an established school that has a track record of performance. They paved the way for many of the other charters in DC.

Caring staff and close knit community. Not strict Montessori - adds in PE, art and music instruction. Children learn a lot and can do everything (reading, science, math, social studies) in both languages.

Did you get a spot and you are deciding whether to enroll?

It's not a DCPS.

I am looking for some specifics from current or former parents. It's hard to really learn much about the school (even after the tour). Any info would be greatly appreciated.
