Just be aware the money you get back is only available to you for use with Southwest, it doesn't go back to your c.c., you have a year to use the funds. I don't mind, bc we travel often, or would use that as a reason to travel

what are the rates now?

The best thing about Southwest is that they allow for SO much flexibility! I would book now to secure the flight and fare, and keep an eye out for lower fares. If they drop, you can rebook at the lower fare and keep the balance in SW credit. In my opinion, there is never any harm in booking with Southwest. FWIW, I just went on a trip 2 weeks ago, and I wasn't sure which days I wanted to go until close to the date, so I booked 5 different flights for the whole trip. Canceling the 3 I didn't use was a piece of cake.

They will most definitely drop before August. As PP said, you can exchange your tix when the price drops. Southwest is the best!

Yes the fares do drop but there is never a rebook fee. You can rebook for a credit at any time. It's great.

When I flew Southwest from the DC area to Puerto Rico, it turned out to be $120ish roundtrip (for an August trip) so that was really low. What is the rate you are looking at for your dates?

I recently booked a domestic flight on Southwest; later that week the fares dropped by $108/ticket. I called Southwest and they gave me a flight credit in that amount.

It has happened for me once - for flying between Nashville and Philly in February, a dumb time for both cities.

We want to fly Southwest to Puerto Rico in August. Should I book now or is there a chance the prices will drop? (Infrequent traveler here). Thanks-
