I think that maybe you have a phobia of some sort, Op. But that would be your issue, not your daughter's. Maybe talk to a therapist about your anxiety because this isn't normal.

Predators can get to her during the day too.

Have a good spring break. I rate your post "mildly amusing." Stop while your ahead.

OP here. She's still living at home.

That doesn't change her age. She is an adult. You would seriously expect an adult to be in at 8pm? I have four adult kids. They don't live at home (thank God) but when they they are here visiting, they know to be considerate and not wake us up if they come in late. My daughter is a teacher and sometimes spends several weeks with us over the summer. It never occurred to me to give her a curfew. One of my boys is military and spent six weeks with us when he returned from Afghanistan. He is 22. Again, it never crossed my mind to give an adult a curfew.

I'm truly trying to figure out whether you are trolling or serious. I just can't wrap my head around posting about an ADULT in "Tweens and Teens". Or what is going on in your head that would make you consider a curfew for an adult. Just so weird.

Don't push your own unhealthy anxieties onto your child. Has she never chosen to spend the night at a friend's house?

C'MON, this is not a real post. You are asking if you should have a curfew for an adult? and if 8pm is reasonable?

8:00 is the curfew for a 12-year-old. A 20-year-old adult is allowed allowed to stay out after dark. As a courtesy, she should call if she plans to be extremely late or is spending the night elsewhere, otherwise you should let her determine her own schedule.

If you give her an 8pm curfew that would probably do the trick to get her to get a job and move out. So if that's what you're going for it will work.

Your 20-year-old can stay out as late as she'd like, or even for days at a time. That is the appropriate curfew for a legal adult.

Is 8:00 reasonable? She thinks it isn't but I tell her it's for her safety as it gets dangerous when it's dark. She disagrees.
