My DS's HS had students come in from the trailers and all students went to the halls. My DW's school moved students down from the second floor, but didn't go into positions and did not bring students in from the trailers. I my school we went on as usual and never knew any alerts were issued.

Our MCPS MS handled it beautifully. Process and procedure was spot on. Actually, I am very, very pleasantly surprised how well trained everyone was. Teachers actually had printed material (crossword puzzles etc) to keep their students entertained through the 30 minute sheltering. All visitors were sheltered in a different part of the school along with the front office staff. It was only for 30 minutes or so.

My kids said they went in the hall and had to kneel down with their hands over their head for the duration of the warning. This is a FCPS Elementary.

I teach in an elementary school in FCPS. This is the first I've heard there was a warning, but maybe it wasn't issued for us.

Our APS did a tornado drill, as they've done before and practice regularly.

Catholic School in NoVa, K-8. Both kids reported a tornado drill; reported sitting in hallway with heads down. Sounds like what I did in ES back in the day.

MCPS elementary in Bethesda. DD reported they had a "real drill" for a tornado, it lasted about 15 minutes, and they went to the ground floor in a space with no windows. The principal also emailed all the parents about it. Sounds like they handled it really well!

MY DD attends High School so they knew it wasn't a drill. since they all have phones out

PP here. I was answering the question in the thread title. I wasn't questioning you. Sorry I wasn't clear.

We have a theater without windows large enough to seat the entire student body (some kids sitting on the stage), so we moved everyone there. Kids sat around and socialized for about 15 minutes. Some kids texted their parents. Then we went back to class when the warning ended.

MY DD said almost everyone got that "Tornado Waring" went in the hallway, and they waited for the all clear, and they did a good job. I am glad that LCPS did a good job doing this tornado warning how did your school do?
