It's crazy to take a 3 year old to a school playground in the middle of a school day. Why not just take them into the classroom, too? Since the rules don't apply to you.

Your misreading the sign. It should be read as
During school hours, the playground equipment may only be used by enrolled students.
FCPS specifically states that playgrounds may be used by individuals free of charge outside of school hours-

I have seen these signs--not at that school. And ignored them. Just because my 3yo isn't in school doesn't mean they can't use a public facility. We used to go to our school park all the time when she was that age.

That blows. I thought schools were like parks. They are both run by the county. I think they put those signs up so the cops can get teens for trespassing if they want to.

You misunderstood the sign. It means that during school hours, the playground can only be used by students. A mom cannot bring her toddler there to play, nor can a bunch of grown men play basketball during school hours. After school, it's open for anyone to play until sunset.

Maybe the sign meant that only enrolled students could use the playground during school hours but anyone can use the playground at other times? That's the policy at our school.

We happened to be driving past Shrevewood ES last night and the kids asked if we could stop and play at the playground. I was surprised to see a sign saying it was only for use by enrolled students during school hours. The playground at our elementary has no such policy and we go there all the time. Is this true at other schools as well? Anyone know the reasoning for this policy? Why some schools and not others?
