I just feel bad for my parents. I wish I was better for them.

You will live where your mind dwells. Why do you want to live in the past. Stop it.

No. I don't get sad. It does seem like a very, very, very long time ago. Almost like a different life.

What amazes me is how often I'll pick up a picture that was taken maybe 40 years ago and I'll remember the picture being taken.

I find it weird. I was so unaware of what a broken home we had. My childhood pictures are all of gold happy memories though. My young teen pics are what bring back sad memories.

Yea. I get even more sad looking at pictures of my siblings. We had an awful childhood and are all pretty screwed up. Makes me sad that children go through that.

You do realize you will probably live until you are in your 80s so if you are currently in your 30s you probably have nearly 50 years left on this earth.

That is a long time.

You haven't even lived half of your life yet.

I hated my childhood so yes, I do feel sad looking at my childhood photos.

My parents were just awful & certain memories get stirred up.

But I also like to remember all the fun I had as a child.

Carefree and then wondering about my huge future ahead.

Ahh.....

I do. I get incredibly sad, and more often than not, I cry. I went through many, many traumatic experiences as a child. And when I look back at pictures of my childhood, it opens up those wounds, it brings those memories back up, and I realize that at no point in my life - not my childhood, and not now, have I ever truly been at peace. From the outside looking in, you'd think I have it all. The career, the home, the money, the lifestyle, everything, and I sure do put on a great smile and make it seem like those things fulfill me, but none of them make up for all of the horrific things I've seen and experienced. And I'm not sure there's anything that will ever right the wrongs I've seen and experienced. And that's kind of heartbreaking. Just typing this response very generally acknowledging my issues is enough to make cry - that's how bad it is. So you can only imagine what pictures do to me.

I don't get sad. I get happy.
The 1970s was a really fun time.

The only thing I get sad about is how the present is not nearly as fun as the 1970s.
Not even close.

I am not talking about my life in particular, just life overall.

OP, I'm sorry that happens to you. I honestly never feel sad looking at my childhood pictures. Maybe it's just a personality thing? You know, how some people wish they could be young again and others don't? I'm one of the latter.

I don't usually look at my kid pictures, but I often feel sad when I look at my wedding picture. :/

I do too. I think it's the depression talking. I see the kid and think how I wish her life had turned out well.

So innocent, so full of life, giggles, and happiness. Not that I'm necessarily unhappy now, but it makes me so sad.

Or is this depression and a sign I need to seek help ASAP? LOL.
