OP here. It is a dcps and the paperwork that we got from the school clearly indicates that health certificates need to be brought to register our kid. We plan to call the school in the morning to confirm but I'll also set up the appointments needed. Our kids aren't currently in daycare so this is a new rodeo.

Yes, it's a good way for our charter to narrow down a bit to "most working parents". Why is it so bad if some of the less active parents aren't able to keep up?

Our DCPS would like for us to have ours, so we will just use the ones from August 2016. Will turn in the updated one at the beginning of this school year (August 2017).

Health forms are due prior to first day of school, not at registration. This page breaks down which forms are due at registration and which wrecks due by 1st day of school:

If registrar isn't sure, refer them to this page.

Our DCPS doesn't require us to turn in health forms when we register. Those can come later.

Last year I did not turn in health forms until the summer - it was not a problem (DCPS).

When was their last checkup? If it was less than 12 months ago, you can get the form done without a new physical.

Welcome to DCPS-- be prepared for a lot of things that aren't designed to cater to parents. This is the difference between public school and daycare.

If the health forms are part of your students' enrollment packet, you need to turn it in when you register.

Depends on the school. Call the administrator/registrar. We had to for preK but just by beginning of school for other grades

For some reason, I thought we had until the start of school to get the health certificates filled out. But after looking through the registration packet, it seems we need to get in to the doctor and the dentist before we can register. Is that right?
