Too religious/conservative. She is a pretty conventional kid, loves sports, dresses preppy-ish, etc. but is liberal politically. Catholic/mainline religious schools are good. She would not be interested in evangelical/Baptist/etc. schools.

Unweighted

She has 5 Ap classes so far (Euro, Psych, Biology, English Language, microeconomics) and plans to take Calculus BC, English Literature, and Spanish language next year. Honors classes in other subjects.

Yep...too small, and she doesn't want a very specialized school either. Wouldn't even look at Emerson for precisely that reason.

Thanks for the recommendations! I wasn't totally clear - distance within the US isn't an issue, but she is not interested in overseas schools.

Me too! That said, even though OP's daughter has good statistics that would at least meet the threshold for Northwestern...it's like playing the lottery at that point. By all means have her apply, but I wouldn't let her fall in love too much.

U South Carolina? There is a thread here discussing their business school too.

Finishing up the list of schools we want to hit this spring, summer, and fall. DD would like to major in either business (unsure of what concentration, leaning toward marketing) or a jounralism/advertising/PR related subject. She prefers medium-to-large schools primarily in either college towns, medium sized towns, or in large cities but with a real, distinct campus (i.e. she liked Boston College but not Boston U). She would like to go Greek but does NOT want a school where it overwhelms the social scene (so no Alabama, Ole Miss, etc.) Distance is not a factor. She spent 6 years living in Minneapolis so cold weather is not an issue either. So far we have seen Wisconsin (loved), Michigan (loved), Marquette (loved), Boston College (loved), BU (didn't like), UIUC (didn't like, hated Urbana-Champaign) and GW (did not like at all. Too urban). She is not interested in UVA, but we'll probably visit William and Mary. On our list to see are Indiana, Iowa, UCLA, Washington, Syracuse, UT-Austin, Tulane, Washington University in St. Louis, Miami U... (some of these will obviously have to wait until she hears back, as we simply don't have the time to traverse the country in 6 months!). Any others that scream "DD"?

She received a 32 on the ACT and a 3.89 GPA from a strong FCPS high school. We will be full pay.
