While searching on Expedia, I actually found a package for airfare + hotel (it looks nice and gets excellent reviews on tripadvisor) for just under $2000 for both of us. Do you think 6 days of food (breakfast is included at the hotel) and entrance fees at sites could be had for approx. $1000? If we go over a bit it's ok---but do you think we could be somewhat in that range?

Sorry, OP again...I should have said that was for Florence, Italy.

Check into train tickets and hotels in Cinque Terra. You said you like hiking - that area is known for hiking. I imagine the food is less expensive than Florence as well.

Iceland? Hot springs and hiking and stuff. Some museums, mostly in Reyjavik.

Cuba? Buenos Aires? Maine (especially Acadia)? Costa Rica (it will be the rainy season but if you don't mind that, some good deals to be had)? Salt Lake City?

If you don't mind driving, you could fly into SF and drive to LA (or the reverse). Hit museums in the cities, stop in Big Sur for hiking (there are some great romantic options), and check out the Paso Robles wine region.

We went to Montreal and Quebec City last July. July is Montreal's international jazz fest, which was a lot of fun.

Flights and hotels are very reasonable, so we were able to splurge on experiences.

Unless you find a good deal, it will be hard to go to Europe in July on a $3k budget (the airfare can eat up $2k).

What about driving to Ashville, NC - great hiking, art galleries, terrific food. I was going to suggest Maine (Acadia has great hiking, stunning vistas, good food, some cute b&b's) but given that you prefer warmer weather and don't like seafood, the. probably not worth the drive .

Champagne region in France. Good wine (obviously!) and a beautiful place for outdoor activities.

We have up to 6 days in late July (Saturday through Friday) to take a short trip together. We can do less than 6 days, but the dates are firm due to childcare arrangements.

We have already been to London, Prague, Ireland, and multiple trips to NYC together.

We love wine, museums, and the outdoors (hiking.) We aren't really "boat" people (rowboat or canoe on a lake/stream might be fun--but not really into motorized boats on the ocean) and do not eat any seafood or fish. We tolerate heat well during the day, as long as we have a cool place to sleep at night.

Budget up to $3000 (must include transportation, hotel, food, and any entrance fees/activity costs.)

Any suggestions? Thanks.
