We will not be there during the buskers festival. Perhaps we will do half in cape Breton (arranged to stay on a farm) and half on PEI.

Has anyone been to PEI since the bridge was built?

The bridge was built in 1997. I imagine most have been since the bridge was built.

We flew into Halifax and out of Sydney, but didn't go to PEI. We want to go back and include PEI. Then I think we will fly into Charlottetown and out of Sydney. Book two one-way tickets.

I'm also interested in PEI. Can any of you tell me which airport you flew into (if you flew)? Thinking of flying up and then renting a car to see the island. TIA.

I'm PP who suggested whale watch / Buggy ride. I've been there since the bridge was built but we took the ferry both ways. It was nice to get out of the car and your children will be happy to know there's an ice cream shop on the ferry.

Went as a kid and what I remember most was exploring the tide pools. Would love to take my kids back.

I also liked Cape Bretton (more rural) than PEI. Not sure about preschooler activities in general (did trip 5 years before kids) but we stayed at Kindred Spirits in Cavindish. Our room was tiny but they had cabins and they had s'mores pits a few nights a week, air hockey table and I think horse shoes. We also did "Matthews wagon ride" or something like that and the inn booked it for us. It was a buggy ride down to a private beach for an hour or so. Kids might like the buggy ride.

On Cape Bretton island we did a whale watch out of Pleasant cove? bay? I forget name...it's not too far from Cheticamp.

Actually I thought PEI was pretty boring.

I would just do PEI and Cape Breton. I thought Halifax was boring.
The eastern side of PEI is less touristy.
Cape Breton is really amazing.

There are lots of hikes that preschoolers will enjoy along the Cabot trail. Maryann falls and MacIntosh Brook come to mind. Skyline Trail has a short version too. Stop at the visitor center for kids to get their ranger books. My 4 year old loved that.

Will you be there for the Halifax Buskers Festival? I still remember some of the acts we saw 10 years ago (we didn't know anything about it, so that probably helped)

Going this summer with two preschoolers. Any advice or suggestions?
