I've noticed the European version of that included dying it some hideous shade of red, orange, or purple. They seemed to think it more chic, and maybe a distraction from the signs of aging, but it's not usually flattering.
In any case, wear your hair as long or short as you like. There are no rules anymore. I think a lot of older women look fine with hair that just touches the shoulders--not long enough to drag down their face, but to soften their look.
So basically, in your opinion, no one over 50 looks good and all have, in your words, " given up." 50 and over, the pp thinks you're doomed.
