Not this time of year. Lived there for two years.

PS it is not very hot here right now. It's in the 60s during the day.

I am in Jerusalem on business right now and just did this. There is a daily "free" tour that leaves from Jaffa Gate at 11 and 2 and they said they do it 7 days a week. I just took it today and it was very good. They suggest a 50 NIS tip to the tour guide and it's worth it even though some of the things will be closed. I did make the mistake of not dressing modestly enough on my only day off from work, & as a lone woman, I was surprised at how much I was harassed by men. I was wearing a maxi dress and a jeans jacket, but the maxi dress had a scoop neck and I left the jacket unbuttoned at first. I was getting regular catcalls from some of the vendors and guys on the street, not just of the buy stuff variety. One guy I was buying trinkets from finally told me to button my jacket because it was too revealing. Just FYI.

Jerusalem is magical. Even if it is only for one not-ideal day, do go. Beaches are pretty much the same everywhere but there is only one Jerusalem.

Yes, the western wall is "open" - people go there to pray on Shabbat (Saturday). The church of the holy sepulchre will also be open. The market areas in the Arab quarters and the shops in the Christian quarter will also be open but shops/cafes etc in the Jewish quarter will not be.

I have upcoming business travel in Tel Aviv and will only have time for a quick day trip to Jerusalem. Unfortunately it seems that my only free day will be a Saturday. I understand buses and trains won't run so I am fine with hiring a private taxi to get to Jerusalem, but what is open on a Saturday to see in the Old City? I wish I could stay longer but not possible on this trip. Will the Western Wall, Church of the Sepulchre, Temple Mount be accessible on a Saturday? I gather the Dome of the Rock is out. Is it worth it to go for the day? Not sure I'll have the chance again so I don't want to miss an opportunity, but if nothing will be open, should I just spend a day by the sea instead? This will be June/July. TIA!
