I would agree with you that having to bring in lysol, tissues, etc. is frustrating. However...... many parents would hate to see that tuition bill be higher by $30.00 so the childcare center is clearly trying to serve everyone's needs. But lysol, tissues, etc is expensive (don't get me started on how many paper towels a center goes through with all that handwashing we do!).

Most centers don't have parents do this, by the way - most charge a high fee and then have parents bring all supplies in for their OWN baby but not for the school. And the school provides paper towels, toilet paper, cleansers, soap, etc.

We don't bring anything. Daycare provides diapers, wipes, formula (if needed), baby food, hot lunch, sheets, etc. All we bring is bottles & extra clothes.

The only things we have ever been asked to provide are individual items - diapers, wipes, lotion, change of clothes, food, etc. I would not appreciate having to bring in other things like cleaning supplies!

Are you sure they're communal? We send in diapers and wipes for our own kids. I have seen them labeled. Kids only come home wearing someone else's diaper (clean, obviously ) if we didn't replenish ours in time. And the teachers usually apologize when it happens even though it's not their fault.

Where is this daycare? Mine doesn't ask for anything and they better not since we are paying $100 a day!!

They're getting you ready for all the ridiculous demands schools will make of you in the coming years! Pretty soon you'll look back fondly on the days when all you had to supply your kid was some tissues and wipes. It gets even worse when they start selling crap for their school fundraisers, sports teams and extracurriculars.
