We just pull DS out of the bath when he starts with it. Hasn't seemed to help, but at least I don't have to sit there and watch and be grossed out.

My one year old did it a couple times and lost interest. We will see if that sticks. I don't do soap until the end either. She does like to drink fresh water from the faucet and I let her since it's clean and she loves water in general.

Yes, my 2.5 year old has done this pretty much since he was able to. I used to try to stop him, but gave up that pointless battle long ago.

I mean, I still tell him to stop if I see him doing it, but I don't go to the point of making serious threats or anything.

Mine does and I don't stop her. It grosses me out but I don't think it will hurt her.

The only way we got this to stop was to bring a cup into the tub with us. She isn't allowed to drink the "dirty" water (the bath water), but if she wants to drink water, we will turn the faucet on just a bit and let her play with that water with her cup. She'll fill it up and drink that water and knows that the "clean" water is okay to drink. She's 2.5 and we've been doing this for probably 9 months or so. Her interest level in drinking the dirty water is almost gone now, but we do catch her occasionally sticking her tongue into it and taking big gulps while swimming.

Exactly. So nasty. At 3 mine is finally starting to cut it out when we threaten to end the bath.

The cats I had growing up also did this. They loved bath water, water that had been standing in a bowl in the bathroom for 2 days, etc -- anything over the nice fresh water provided in their primary bowl.

Meh, my toddler has eczema so we don't use soap until the end. She also likes to chew on the bottom her shoe, so I figure some bath water probably isn't the grossest thing she's ingested that day.

apparently, there is no limit my kids do it, despite our threats and pointing out that it likely has poop in it...grosses me out and we've even begun ending bath time when it starts. they have never gotten sick from it- just gross!

2 year old DS has decided is fun to drink bath water, bubbles and all. I know I did this as a kid but how much is too much?
