Tell her that your event was cancelled tonight.

You don't have to worry about her being snowed in alone in her house. God forbid if she falls ill or something during the snow storm. Much better if she is in your house under the watchful eye of your DH.

If you get snowed in with her, you will have your babysitter too.

Do you want her to get stuck at your house overnight? If not, insist that she stay home. My mom is from the Midwest and insisted that she could drive in snow, so came to visit as planned last year before the monster snow storm. She was stuck with us for many days before our side street was plowed. It was fun for us and we had extra help with the kids, but she was clearly annoyed by DC's lack of snow plows.

I'm not so sure about it though. She would have to get on the beltway to go home around 10pm.

We were just assuming we would call it off, but she is insisting on coming anyway. She typically doesn't seem to worry about these weather events, but I want her to be safe.

Also, I'm sure she doesn't want to get stuck at our house overnight.

Would you put your foot down and tell her not to come?
