For those who found her incompetent--very important question: Was her diagnosis accurate? We recently saw her and she diagnosed our DC with a few very mild issues. She was responsive, our DC seemed to like her, quite a few typos in the report and the recommendations seem like they may not be that realistic to implement. Honestly, I have a hard time trusting people in this profession.

I would get a second opinion. In the current DSM, bi-polar and depression are in separate categories from mood disorders.

Dr Corliss at Mindwell in Virginia. We've had 4 neuropsychs done (2 by public school, 2 private). Dr Corliss' was strongest to date -- report was thorough, accessible to experts and lay readers and actionable. Wish we'd found her a few years ago. https://www.mindwell.us/

Last week I was chatting with a fellow parent at an OT session and the parent gave me 2-3 names of assessors to steer clear of. Dr. Resnik was one of them. Not sure how reviews are so mixed. Any names would be good.

We were happy with her eval of our son over the summer. She was personable, thoughtful, and seemed well informed. Her conclusions fit our expectations (and previous diagnosis of ASD) and provided additional info and insight we hadn't had before. The recommendations for the school were appropriate, but as expected MCPS didn't think they were all necessary.
We liked her quick turnaround time. Her report did have some typo type errors.

PP what diagnosis? Your post does not make sense. That is a coincidence that multiple families at your school have used her. I call troll.

As a teacher who has received some of her reports, I find the diagnosis very generous. Diagnosing ADHD when only one environment showed a concern, SLD diagnosis with average scores.

I called a couple of months back repeatedly and got either full voicemail message prompts or no return call. Not professional at all. This was indication of some warning signs for us.

She was negatively reviewed on the board and came here to defend her reputation and Jeff removed the comments. I saw her do a presentation at xMinds and liked her well enough to call her office to set up an eval. I called three times and left messages for the practice manager and could never get anybody to call me back.

We recently had a comprehensive neuropsych eval done for our 1st grader. Resnik group, but with Dr. Rao. Overall satisfied. A pediatrician reviewed the final report and thought it was thorough and well-written.

I'd suggest that who you go with specifically for LDs/language processing issues depends on whether you want specialization in this area or if you want a truly comprehensive eval, including such things as anxiety or ADHD, etc. If you're looking strictly for the LDs/language processing, you might want to check out Henley/Block. I considered them also for an eval, but they didn't include some other pieces that I wanted in the "comprehensive" eval.

I got both their contact info via ASDEC. They list diagnosticians... not a list of endorsements per se, but rather a summary of clinicians who ASDEC clients have used and have considered the report to be well done. That might not necessarily be the same though re: school recommendations and representation.

OP. Keep looking. She's been reviewed before negatively.

We actually just had her complete an evaluation on our son. We found her to be knowledgeable, warm and up on current literature. Her evaluation of our son was thorough. We have mixed feelings about some of the suggested school based service recommendations related to intensity/duration/ type ( individual vs. group based). With that said- we are communicating with her around this and anticipate a positive resolution. We plan on having her participate in the upcoming IEP review meeting and have every confidence that she will represent/ push for the intensity he needs

I haven't used her for this so can't comment on that specifically, but she is a genuinely caring person and I think pretty practical in her approach to things. She has a new book that just came out on ADHD that looks good--you can preview it on Amazon if you want to get a sense of her approach to things. I'll want you there's someone on this board that has a real grudge against her, so this thread will probably turn nasty soon.

Dr. Resnik was recommended to us to evaluate our 1 st grader for suspected LDs and possible language processing issues. Someone recently told us to not use her because of her weak school recommendations. We need an evaluator who will give us best practice service recommendations and help us fight for our child. Any thoughts on her or others?
