Deadpool was rated R and completely inappropriate for kids yet half of my then 2nd grader's class saw it when it was in the theaters. Parents are lame.
OMG! My 2nd grader told me some kids had watched it and I thought he might have been making that up. That and the last Fast and Furoois.
2nd grade?? What are parents thinking?

I'm not letting my DS (12) see it yet. My DH and I went to go see it (excellent movie!) and while it does have graphic violence what concerns me more is that the story is a very mature (about aging and death) and not really a "superhero movie". I'm fine with all of the other Marvel movies but this one is very different in tone and subject matter.

DS who is almost 12 has never seen a R movie but he wants to see this one and I am inclined to let him. I have no issue with nudity or language, it's the violence I don't like. But he is a mature kid and could handle it fine.

I have no issues with nudity, sex and language. But I really despise violence on screen. My own pet peeve, so I wouldn't allow it.

This extra violence, and the hype about it, is the point. Discussion about it is a strategy to increase sales.
I'm not saying don't discuss, I'm just saying it's what the 22-14+ kids want - something they're not 'supposed' to see.
